The Time of my Life.
June 2nd, 2008 · No Comments
I have lived close to 29 years on this planet put here by an all powerful God. The first 5 years are lost in a midst of ignorance and energy. The next five, also practically useless, instilled an idea of God, purpose, relationship and the deep desire for personal pleasure. The next five, 10-15, created an absolute awareness of this God, of true purpose, a little more about relationships and an ineffectual battle to control personal pleasure. The next five, 15-20, began intense training for true purpose, solidified my relationship with the all powerful God, learned a little more about relationships and made some headway in controlling personal pleasure.
The next nine, 20-29 increased my faith in the face of suffering ten fold, taught me more than I ever wanted to know about relationships (unfathomable levels of pain), created doubt about my relationship with God while strengthening it at the same time, produced the first significant results in achieving my true purpose, put me on the brink of despair countless times, and made significant progress towards controlling my personal desires.
I am at the brink of the culmination of my character, understanding and ability. Soon it will be time for me to make a larger impact on the sphere of my personal world. I feel as if this must be.

“Pro-life” has been the calling card of Christians since RoeVWade. Pro-life was quickly ingrained into the Republican party, forcing and beguiling Christians to vote for a particular party since that time. Pro-life has become synonymous with anti-women’s rights, anti-homosexual, anti-poverty, anti-environment, anti-peace and anything else the Republican party has been opposed to.
The generation that grew up after RoeVWade, my generation, is able to see the distaste and misunderstanding with which the world looks at a Christian Pro-lifer. Because of this, my generation has in large part done nothing. We sympathize with the Pro-life cause, but cannot involve ourselves because of the stigma.
Society cares deeply about the environment and social justice, and my generation has discovered that their Bibles have a lot to say about those things as well! We have teamed up with society’s desires hoping to reduce the negative outlook our people have towards Christians.
Meanwhile, over one million babies get aborted each year in America. 50 Million babies get aborted each year worldwide. It is commonly used instead of birth control because it is cheap and effective. In Russia women have an average of eight abortions in their lifetime.
Our parents grew up in the middle of RoeVWade and it was a shock to their moral systems. Now, aged and retiring they no longer have the ability or energy to cause a perspective change in America.
A women recently shared her abortion story with me. As a young teen just after RoeVWade she got an abortion to the chorus of protesters shouting, “You are going to burn in hell, and I am glad!” Obviously it took years before she was willing to have a conversation with a Christian. She was convinced she was hated, by all Pro-life adherents.
Perhaps our parents failed to convince their generation that abortion is sick, twisted, and murder. Perhaps they promoted hate, self-righteousness, and misplaced judgment and anger. Perhaps they totally ignored the suffering of pregnant women who sought abortion out of traumatic circumstances. Perhaps all these things are true, but it does not change this fact:
Over one million babies are aborted each year in America.
Yes, we have to change our approach; yes, we must relate a message of love to all!
Yes, we must do something about abortion, there is no excuse for inactivity! It is up to our generation, and our generation will be held responsible for these deaths. Make no mistake, you will be held responsible, and so will I.
(See my paper on the Sheep and the Goats for a commentary on the sin of inactivity)
